Getting Ready to Go...

The Army gave me an extra week with my husband! I was so excited when he came home and told me; I was jumping around like an idiot.

While I'm thankful for the extra time, its still crazy getting ready for him to go. All the paperwork has to be in order. All his gear has to be put together. All his extra clothing has to be purchased. His Class A's have to be cleaned and pressed for a photo. While most of these things are coming together nicely, its a lot to throw together in such a short notice.

My neighbor's husband left yesterday. He's going the same place as Dan is, and she came over to give me all her phone numbers and an emergency contact friend. That was really sweet of her. Thanks Maggie!

So now its 6 days and counting.....

The Countdown...

Sunday is the big day. The Iraq deployment send-off. Then it could be up to 18 months until the Scott Clan are all together again. I don't think I've fully come to grips with this idea yet...

Oh the kiddlets are fine. I don't think they know how long 18 months is. But I do.

But like most things, I am going to hit this thing head-on. Drive on through it. And make it to the other side.

I know I'm not the only one in America dealing with a military deployment. There are countless women and men, mothers and fathers, and sisters and brothers missing their loved ones, just like I will. I am hoping by writing this story of our family, I can find other families and give our soldiers a face and a name.

Also, I hope the love of my life can read this and know that he is truly loved and missed while he is away.

So I leave this posting with a favorite Irish saying of mine, for all the soldiers and families:

May love and laughter light your days, and warm your heart and home. May good and faithful friends be yours, wherever you may roam. May peace and plenty bless your world with joy that long endures. May all life's passing seasons bring the best to you and yours!
